Kareena Kapoor’s OTT Debut Is Based On The Devotion of Suspect X. Here’s Where To Read The Japanese Bestseller Online For FREE

Netflix, a few hours ago, announced Sujoy Ghosh’s untitled film which the team will start filming soon. This film also marks Kareena Kapoor Khan’s OTT debut. It’s too soon to speak about it but from the announcement teaser, at least the other cast looks great. We have an OTT’s favourite, Jaideep Ahlawat along with Vijay Varma.

In the announcement, Netflix also mentioned that the film is based on Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s book, The Devotion of Suspect X. The book’s back cover says that it is one of the biggest selling Japanese thrillers ever. Interesting, isn’t it?

Before being announced by Netflix as Sujoy Ghosh’s next project, the book has also been adapted into motion pictures in Japan and South Korea.

The Devotion of Suspect X Plot/Synopsis

The synopsis on the book’s back cover reads,

“Yasuko lives a quiet life, working in a Tokyo bento shop, a good mother to her only child. But when her ex-husband appears at her door without warning one day, her comfortable world is shattered.

When Detective Kusanagi of the Tokyo Police tries to piece together the events of that day, he finds himself confronted by the most puzzling, mysterious circumstances he has ever investigated. Nothing quite makes sense, and it will take a genius to understand the genius behind this particular crime…”

As I haven’t read the book yet, I won’t be able to tell you the plot but yes, it’s available on Wikipedia and you can read it here

As I firmly believe that books are always better than the films, I am going to read this book before the Kareena Kapoor starrer Netflix film is released. While I was looking for the book online, I came across this website where The Devotion Of Suspect X is available for free. You can read it here

And if you love the smell of books and don’t prefer reading them online, you can buy your copy from Amazon
